The “Formosan Sika Deer Wooden Figurine” showcases the deer’s smooth and agile posture through meticulous woodturning and simple yet elegant cutting techniques. The distinctive spots on its body are created using curved surface pad printing technology, complemented by hand-applied gradient spray painting to achieve rich and vibrant colors.
The delicate and fragile antlers are crafted from safe, non-toxic, flexible silicone material, ensuring durability and safety. This figurine is a testament to Taiwan’s refined local manufacturing techniques, representing a precious native species.
Continuing Mufun’s tradition, each figurine in the first limited production run comes with a unique laser-engraved serial number.
Formosan Sika Deer Ecological Overview
Scientific Name: Cervus nippon taiouanus
The Formosan Sika Deer is a subspecies endemic to Taiwan, found only on the main island. Historically, vast herds of deer roamed the island, but due to excessive hunting and the destruction of their lowland habitats, the Formosan Sika Deer has been completely wiped out in the wild. Only a few remain in captivity. The Formosan Sika Deer holds a deep connection to Taiwan’s indigenous cultures and history, reflecting the island’s rich heritage.
